The USB Network Link Cable application program, a Windows
Program Manager-like user interface, provides a very easy
to use environment that makes file transfer as easy as
drag-and-drop. You simply plug in the USB Network Link
Cable and do a one-time installation of the program. The Local/Remote Desktop represents the file structure of each computer that the application is running. It provides an interface that is similar to Windows Explorer File Manager. The combox of the Local/Remote Desktop shows the drive letters and folder names, while the list view shows the files contained in the selected folder. The Remote Desktop will appear only if remote computer has been connected and the application software is running, too. |

File Sharing with the GeneLink Network Link Cable
|
||
The
GeneLink Network Link basically is a Peer to Peer USB Port LAN.
It works fairly simple in that after the drivers have been
installed, you plug the cable in and select the folders that
you wish to share
across your PC's and start moving files. I tested this using
my PC Desktop running XP pro and my laptop running XP home. The
only message I received during the set up was a typical Install
message for XP users as you see here to the left. If this should
happen
just continue anyway to finish the install. All this message
means
is that XP is not familiar with what is being installed, continuing
anyway does not in anyway harm your computer. There are some
slight differences between the installs in each of the operating
systems but are easily defined as you move along. The
end
result is a simple network formed between 2 usb ports and the
GeneLink
Network Link. The image below shows what the final connection
looks like after all installs are complete.
I'm not much of a network guy but if I were thinking about configuring
a small network, this is the route I would go, with the ease
of
installation
it's a Great plug and play solution for the technically challenged
and even better for the seasoned pro. All in all I would definitely
recommend
it as an inexpensive and reliable tool for networking, You Get
